Directly import bookmarks from Chrome to Edge:

In this method, we are going to explain about how to import bookmarks directly from Chrome to Edge. Please note that this method works if you are importing bookmarks on the same computer. There is a default option in Edge to directly import the bookmarks from Chrome. Follow the below steps to know how to do that.

  • Open Microsoft Edge on your computer.
  • On the top right corner of your screen, you will be able to see the options icon. It will be in a three-dotted vertical line. Click on that.
  • A drop-down menu will appear and click on the Settings option.
  • Now click on the General Settings option.
  • Look out for the Transfer favourites and other info options. Under that, you will be able to see Import or export option. Click on that.
  • There will be two options. Internet Explorer and Chrome. Select the Chrome option and click on Import.
  • If you want to confirm whether the bookmarks are imported, then click on settings. Tap on favourites and then you will be able to see a separate folder named ‘Imported from Chrome’
  • That’s it. Your bookmarks have been imported from Google Chrome to Microsoft Edge.

Import bookmarks with HTML file:

If you want to import bookmarks from Chrome to Edge on a different PC, then you will not be able to directly import them as mentioned in the above method. However, do not worry. You can do that simply with the help of HTML files.

    • Open the Chrome browser.
    • Click on the Settings icon located on the top right side of the browser. Now select bookmarks and then click on Bookmark manager.
    • Now click on the option icon. It will be similar to the Chrome settings icon with three vertical dots.
    • Tap on the Export bookmarks option.
    • A pop-up window will appear asking to select the save location. Select the location and then click on the Save button.
    • Now close the Chrome browser and then open Edge browser.
    • On the top right corner of your screen, you will be able to see the settings icon. Click on that. Tap on the General option.
    • Under the ‘Transfer favourites and other info’ option, click on the ‘Import and export’ option.
    • Under the ‘Import and export file’ option, you will be able to see the ‘Import from file’ option. Click on that and select the file you saved from the Chrome browser.
    • Once the import process is completed, you will receive a notification saying ‘All done’
    • If you want to check for yourself if the import process is really done, open the favourites folder from settings and you will be able to see a ‘imports from bookmarks’ folder.
